Effective blog posts

Edublogs Teacher blog Challenge #2: Effective blogs

This challenge is about effective writing and blog posts. What are they? For me, they must convey information and keep a readers attention long enough to get information to the reader.

I think that Wesley Fryer does a great job at explaining techie things to people who may not understand tech stuff easily. This post : HeyTell: Use Your iPhone or Android Phone like a Walkie Talkie #edapps is a great example.

  1. He provides hyperlinked text to relevant information
  2. Pictures provide more information to support the text
  3. It is short and to the point
  4. Everything on the blog is tagged and easily searchable
  5. There is an engagement invitation at the end that asks the user to take action with the information

Now there are many many different opinions on what makes a good blog post, but I believe that if you think of your content and your audience, you can start to narrow those down. I chose the ones above because I hope that I can tailor more posts in the future to help people learn about technology and integration into learning.

  1. Thanks for sharing Wes Fryer's post and explaining why you thought that it was effective. I agree with you entirely and like you, I want to make my blog more instructional at times sharing the knowledge that I have gained with others ie telling others how to do things rather than say what I have done.
