Spring Cleaning in the back office

Edublogs Teacher blog Challenge #3: Add Some Muscle to your Blog

This is the 3rd activity in the Teacher Challenge and I realized that I didn’t have any personalized information other than the generic “About Me” link on the side of my blog which was displaying my Google Profile. This was a perfect time to tidy things up and get my online presence a face lift.

I found it hard to put a ‘brag’ page on my blog, but realize the value to my readers. It provides a background and might result in further connections and opportunities. Over the years I have been involved with a lot of special events and I don’t have a list or record of those. I should! My About Me page should be my portfolio page and a record and reflection on my learning. It would be fun to look back 15-20 years and see all the learning I have done and remember my journey.

I created my About Me page, now I need to go clean out that file cabinet in the back office that contains all the little slips of papers and notes on presentations and get them added to my About Me page. That might take me some time, but off I go to gather them up.

  1. Hi Leslie...your "About" and PD pages tell me that you are a passionate educator who loves her job. It takes time to do the conversion from the filing cabinet to the computer but it's worth it. :)

  2. Hi Leslie, Like you, I don't wish to brag. However, as you say, it can lead to valuable connections and further networks and that in itself adds further value.
I still have a filing cabinet full of 'stuff' but I just don't know whether I will ever get to that! Time is such a critical factor.
I like all your badges on your sidebar. That also says a lot about you.

  3. Hi Leslie, at the end of the school year I began scanning my files containing lessons etc to de-clutter my filing cabinet and obviously create digital folders. I have a long way to go, but I figure if I am able to scan a couple of folders each week, then I WILL get there! Love your background pic! :)
